The COI Commercialization Symposium on Entrepreneurship, Therapeutic Discovery and Technological Development was successfully held on 8 December 2023.
We were delighted to welcome the honourable Mr. Albert Wong, CEO of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park Corporation to kick off the event with a welcome remark. In Mr. Albert Wong’s speech, he shared HKSTP’s perspective in facilitating the cancer research development in Hong Kong and how they can support research companies in translating research to real life impacts. Following its opening were keynote speech, flash talks and panel discussions delivered by our distinguished speakers, including Prof. Tak Mak, Co-Director (Scientific), Centre for Oncology and Immunology, Prof. Naoto Hirano, Senior Scientist, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, University Health Network, Dr. Alfred Tan, Deputy Director, Technology Transfer Office, The University of Hong Kong, etc.
Pivoting from conversations on immuno-oncology, the esteemed panels discussed a diverse range of topics covering commercialization and entrepreneurship aspects of scientific research as well as addressing real-world challenges spanning the broader healthcare landscape. The panel discussions were truly enlightening, with great exchange of insights and interactions among panellists, moderators, and participants.
Followed by the symposium was a networking session where participants were given the opportunities to personally connect with our speakers. It was encouraging to see such a great turnout for an event that connects people with shared interests.
